clean jeans policy
It probably makes sense to most of you that you need to wash your jeans before sending them in for alterations or repair, but due to the rising number of unwashed pairs I have received recently I'd like to go over my clean jeans policy here so we're all on the same page.
ALL JEANS MUST BE FRESHLY WASHED IN A WASHING MACHINE ON A SPIN CYCLE WITH SOAP AND ALLOWED TO FULLY DRY BEFORE SENDING IN FOR ANY SERVICE.
Let me say that again...
ALL JEANS MUST BE FRESHLY WASHED IN A WASHING MACHINE ON A SPIN CYCLE WITH SOAP AND ALLOWED TO FULLY DRY BEFORE SENDING IN FOR ANY SERVICE.
I recommend washing your jeans inside out, on a delicate cycle in cold water with your detergent of choice, and hung to dry. I like using Woolite Dark, but any soap/detergent you like is fine. When dry they'll feel a bit crispy and smell pleasantly neutral - this is what we want!
This applies to any worn garment being sent in for any service - jeans, chinos, jackets, shirts, etc.
Ocean, bathtub and soap-less machine soaks without agitation do not count as a wash when sending in for service. You may take care of your jeans however you like during regular wear, but when sending in for service your jeans must be extra clean for the health, safety and sanity of your tailor.
REGARDING BRAND NEW JEANS - it is absolutely fine to send in brand new unwashed jeans for alterations that you've only worn to try on, but I do always recommend an initial wash before deciding on any alterations to reduce any natural shrinkage that may occur in the fabric.
If you send in unwashed jeans for service, you will be charged a $25 washing fee. Refusal of this will result in your jeans being returned to you, and you will be refunded your deposit, minus shipping costs and processing fees.
PLEASE DO NOT MAKE ME DO THIS!
Believe me, I have no desire to be a washing service.
If you have ANY questions about the cleanliness of your jeans or why I require them to be extra clean prior to service, please feel free to send me an email.
Okay, now that we've got all that out of the way, please know that I really am excited to work on your beloved jeans, and I am extremely grateful for your trust and business.
