    Tapering

We offer full and half tapers on denim up to 25 oz to slim the shape of the legs of your jeans.

    Waist Downsizing

  • If you have worn your jeans for any amount of time beyond trying them on, YES you MUST wash your jeans in a washing machine on a spin cycle with soap and allow them to fully dry before mailing. Dry cleaning, freezing, tub and ocean soaks, etc. are not a substitute for machine washing on a spin cycle with soap and water. When performing alterations I take apart seams by hand in very close proximity to my face – sending in dirty jeans is unsanitary and extremely disrespectful to me.

REGARDING BRAND NEW JEANS - it is absolutely fine to send in brand new unwashed jeans for alterations that you've only worn to try on, but I do always recommend an initial wash before deciding on any alterations to reduce any natural shrinkage that may occur in the fabric.

If jeans are received not adequately clean, they will be washed for a fee of $25. Refusal of this will result in your jeans being returned to you, and you will be refunded your deposit, minus shipping costs and processing fees.

  • I recommend washing your jeans inside out in cold water on a delicate spin cycle with a detergent like Woolite Dark, and hang drying.

  • Unlike repair, I accept alterations year-round. Turnaround times vary based on complexity of the alteration. Hems are generally done and back in the mail within 3-4 days of when we receive them while waist downsizing usually is a 3-4 week turnaround. I’ll always communicate estimated turnaround times with you!

  • Shipping jeans, especially heavyweight and raw denim, is expensive, and operating this business is more than just sewing labor, so please understand that shipping is not a negotiable cost. I use USPS Ground Advantage or UPS Ground shipping with tracking to make sure your jeans arrive safely and quickly! Both services include $100 of insurance and you will have the option to purchase more insurance and signature required for your return shipping.

  • No, I do not accept in person drop-offs/pick-ups. All work is done via mail-order.

  • I love working on jeans from around the world! For international customers, you will have to mail your jeans to me (I can't provide prepaid mailing labels due to customs restrictions) and then you will be invoiced for return shipping. Shipping from the US is often extremely expensive and can be cost prohibitive but I'm always happy to get a shipping quote for you, just shoot me an email!

  • Yes, up to 25oz denim on most brands - I love heavyweight jeans and I’m one of the only services in the USA that offers to work on them! Since heavyweight denim requires some different set-ups on machinery, is heavier and more difficult to handle and is heavier to ship, pricing depends on weight. Extra heavyweight like 25oz incurs further additional labor and shipping costs due to the extreme nature of this fabric.

PLEASE NOTE BRAVESTAR CUSTOMERS: I am currently only able to offer hemming or tailoring on BraveStar Selvage jeans 21.5oz and under. I am not able to offer tailoring on their 22-25oz models.

  • Sometimes! Even though they’re both made of denim, jeans and jackets are constructed very differently and jackets require much more labor to alter. More labor = more $. Altering jackets is expensive, there’s no way around it.

All jacket alterations are addressed on an individual basis - get in touch to see if we can help you!

  • Like jackets, shirts are constructed very differently and depending on what you’re looking for they can be expensive to alter.

  • All tapers are done the right way here - so your selvedge outseam will not be affected or changed. Tapers are done from the inseam of the jeans.

  • Yes, but with one exception - I can’t distress your hem for you, that’s your job!

Some jeans have a zipper, extra wide cuff, riveted lower leg pocket or other unique detail at the hem or in the seam of the leg. Get in touch for more information and pricing on an alteration with unique construction.

  • No, new chainstitch and single-stitch hems only. Your hem will age and develop natural roping with wear and washing, just like vintage jeans.

  • YES! I’ve seen it all - from upgrading women’s micro pockets to making the entries more accessible to accommodating a large item you carry in your coin pocket, I can create a custom solution for you. Get in touch to explore your options!

  • Yep! Your jeans should work for you, not the other way around. Email me for more information about accessibility options for individuals with restricted mobility, injuries or other specific needs.

  • Yes, usually! Email me with photos of the situation and I can let you know what is possible.

Unfortunately some bad alterations can be permanent - such as a cut selvedge edge from a sloppy taper. That’s why getting things done right the first time and choosing the right tailor to work on your clothing is so important!
